CIRC – La Roche D’Hys:  Centre International de Rencontres Culturelles / Centre for International Cultural Encounters

CIRC is a registered, volunteer not- for- profit  French association incorporated under the law of 1901. Created in 2001, CIRC’s mandate is to encourage creativity by establishing and exploiting a cultural centre in an historic and ecological environment dedicated to intellectual and artistic development.

The association CIRC- La Roche D’Hys supports the organization, promotion and presentation of public events and activities arising from of the Academie de La Roche D’Hys both at the Domaine des Arts and throughout the Region.

Utilizing both the facilities of the Domaine des Arts and the capacities of L'Académie de La Roche D’Hys, CIRC has over the past five years, produced many international events , from music to opera, from literature to translation, from professional development in contemporary dance to professional development for Canadian wine growers and wine makers, from art exhibitions to and more.

Participants have come from many countries including France, Holland, Germany, Canada, Austria, the United States, China, Israel, Bulgaria and Romania.

CIRC works closely with other cultural and administrative partners both local and international.  See list of Partners below:

Membership: Participation in CIRC is through membership or special invitation .

Privileges: Members are privileged to attend special events such as private concerts at La Roche D’Hys, masterclasses, art exhibition openings, wine tasting, rehearsals of artists-in-residence, and the annual  Members Garden Party at La Roche D’Hys.

Members are given preferred rate for public concerts .

Voting members (active member) participate in the association’s governing council and serve as volunteers on working committees in the planning and running of events.

- 3 Concerts Camerata Vocale Gottingen – 33 voice Choir from Leipzig, Germany Artists in Residence professional development retreat.
- 2 Lyric Concerts Opera masterclass.
- Art Exhibitions Artists in Residence local art festival.
- 3 concerts Vienna Aleph Trio Chamber Music masterclass and retreat.
- Concert Nicolas Dorléans Solo Guitarist.
- 3 Film screenings Public dialogue with the film directors directors’ colloquium.
- Literary Garden Party.

CIRC Programme for 2006:
- 5 performances David Earle Dance Theatre with the Penderecki Quartet. Artist in Residence Retreat at La Roche D’Hys.
- 2 Lyric Concerts Masterclass for Opera Singers .
- Apero Litteraire: a public reading and encounter between Burgundian poets  and Canadian poets from the writers workshop.
- Dégustation/Wine Tasting for Canadian and U.S wines at Office de Tourisme.
- Poetry Reading at Shakespeare and Co  Bookstore Paris.
- Concert Piano Trios participants of the Masterclass with Trio des Aulnes .
- 3 concerts Sibelius Orchestra of Berlin Professional development retreat.

In celebration of Mozart Year, CIRC and the Academie de la Roche D’Hys initiated a special international collaboration with Xian Zhou Opera Centre in Shanghai and the Sibelius Orchestra of Berlin. The fully staged presentation of Mozart’s opera Cosi fan Tutti featuring international voice competition prize winners as soloists. 2 performances in Burgundy two performances in Berlin.
